According to Ruiz Amado there are three kind of "maestros". the first one is the "maestro genial", then the "maestro artesano" and "maestro artista". Both of them have their own characteristics but the one we would focus on, for the purpose of this post, is "maestro genial".

Why? Because its main characteristic lies in his very natural way to teach. This master does not need to use pedagogy. He/she just needs to understand how to use the teaching resources and avoids any pedagogical matter, not because pedagogy is not important; but because of this master inborn way to teach. This kind of master is quite near to what is said about our education in pedagogy. "We can be taught to be educators (talking about pedagogy) as little as we can be taught to be artists". (Spranger, E. 1948) "Great masters" know pedagogy but don´t use it, it is irrelevant for them.

There are some teachers, who don´t know anything
about pedagogy; yet, they can be as good as, if not better than
those who know every pedagogical issue.

In "education of the women for educators" it is well established the knowledge of teaching and what really matters is to teach how great life is. An educator who is not able to see this greatness will not be able to teach it. Thus, knowing about pedagogy is only another element, of the many other important elements we could talk about when referring to the teaching and learning process.

As Luis Carlos Restrepo explains in his book "the right to tenderness": is wrong the one who thinks that tenderness is a condition sine qua non for knowledge production. This means emotion, willingness to discover and motivation are fundamental in any learning and teaching process, and inside any personal development.

So, what is an educator?
Besides other obvious answers, the one we should pay attention are:
An educator is that the one with:
 -  Willingness to self-improvement
         - on his/her learning
         - on his/her way of promoting learning
         - on the way he/she appreciates life

Bottom point: what´s the difference between a teacher and an educator?

"I have consolidated some of my thoughts on the differences between them
  • Everyone can teach. Few can educate.
  • A teacher teaches; an educator reaches.
  • A teacher typically focuses on curriculum and assessment. An educator focuses on development and evaluation.
  • In the curricular race, a teacher perspires. In the journey of lifelong learning, an educator inspires. (An educator goes the extra mile.)
  • A teacher works with content. An educator deals with people.
  • Teaching is a job. Educating is a calling.
  • Some teachers do this to earn. Educators do this to learn (about themselves, their learners, better ways to inspire, etc).
  • A teacher might network locally. An educator is connected globally (and thinks and acts that way too)."
